Catherine Commenge archéologue, chargée de recherche au CNRS et rattachée à l'équipe TRACES (UMR 5608). Spécialiste de la période néolithique, sa thèse soutenue en 1986 portait sur le Néolithique moyen en Grèce du Nord. Elle a notamment dirigé les fouilles du site de Munhata (Israël) de 1993 à 1995.
